Pollution Monitoring
I have been involved in monitoring emissions to air from the UK Glass Industry since November 1997, and have been running the stack sampling team for British Glass since April 1998.
I am fully competent in isokinetic particulate sampling to BS 3405 and BS 6069 - using both the BCURA , and Zambelli 6000+ sampling apparatus.
Particulate monitoring from a stack under positive pressure:
The methods I have tended to employ for SO2, HCl, and HF sampling have been wet chemical methods - using impinger sampling trains with hydrogen peroxide (for SO2 and HCl) and Sodium Hydroxide (for HF) solutions.
The NOx sampling methods have involved a heated sample being fed to a gas conditioning unit and then straight to either an infra red, or chemiluminescent analyser.
